At Matsukawakan, we direct the hot spring, discovered approximately 800 years ago, straight from the source to the spout. Our alkaline hot spring offers a rich fragrance and a smooth texture, allowing you to fully enjoy its natural benefits. Although the spring water has a temperature of about 70°C, we adjust it without adding water by utilizing the difference in elevation. Adding water to this precious gift of nature diminishes its valuable components, so we take various measures to avoid this. From the amount of water flowing into the baths to the depth, size, and careful management of the source, we take great care in preserving the integrity of our hot spring.

Immerse yourself in the therapeutic waters of our natural hot spring while surrounded by nature’s beauty. Please note that due to the outdoor nature of these baths, showers may not be available during colder months. To ensure a truly authentic experience, we recommend using a bucket to rinse before entering the bath. Access to the private baths is through a dedicated outdoor walkway.”

- Bathing hours are divided into private and public sessions. Swimsuits are required for all bathing areas. Rental swimsuits are available for a fee. Towel rentals are free of charge. For the convenience of our guests, we provide rental surf ponchos or yukata for moving between the changing area and the sauna area. Please refrain from moving around the facility in swimsuits only.
Sky sauna
A newly renovated rooftop sauna offering stunning views of Matsukawa Valley, selected as one of the top 100 sunset spots in Shinano. Choose between a plunge pool or a warm bath. Even if you don’t use the sauna, you can enjoy the warm bath. Ranked second in Nagano Prefecture on the sauna app “Saunakiitai” among approximately 460 sauna facilities. Experience the changing seasons with sunrises, sunsets, and starry nights.
